Federal law (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)) may independently prohibit firearm possession regardless of state-court restoration. State restoration does NOT automatically restore federal firearms rights for all conviction types. Federal statutory relief (18 U.S.C. § 925(c)) is effectively unavailable — ATF has not funded the program since 1992. Advise client to consult federal firearms counsel before possessing any firearm.
